Dr Manny of Fox TV News interviews teeth whitening dentist Dr Linda Himmerberger about the dangers and potential damage that can occur to our teeth from too much teeth whitening. Tooth enamel characteristics can change for some patients, to a chalky appearance. In some instances the tooth coloring can take on a blue appearance.

Implications for patients with gum disease are discussed, highlighting the physical changes that can occur to tooth roots. Whitening compounds can also leak into old tooth fillings, causing additional problems.

Patients are warned that teeth should be treated with care so they can last nearly a lifetime. Much of the damage that occurs can be permanent.
